DownReels

YouTube Video Downloader

Paste a supported YouTube video or Shorts link to view available formats, choose your preferred quality, and prepare a permitted copy.

Only download videos you own or have permission to save.

Supported YouTube links and formats

DownReels accepts standard YouTube video watch URLs (youtube.com/watch?v=...), short links (youtu.be/...), and YouTube Shorts (youtube.com/shorts/...). All playlist identifiers, tracking codes, and query parameters are automatically stripped so that only the exact single video is analyzed.

Depending on the original upload, DownReels can prepare formats ranging from 360p and 480p standard definition up to 720p and 1080p high definition. When high-resolution video streams are delivered with separate audio channels, DownReels merges them losslessly so your file includes full synchronized audio.

How to download a YouTube video

Step 1: Copy the URL of the YouTube video or Short from your browser address bar or the YouTube app share button.

Step 2: Paste the URL into the input field above and click 'Get video'. DownReels inspects the link and retrieves available video qualities and formats.

Step 3: Select your preferred resolution (such as 1080p MP4 or 720p MP4) and click 'Download'. Once processing completes, click 'Download video' to save it to your device.

Format options: MP4 versus WebM

MP4 (H.264 video with AAC audio) is recommended for maximum compatibility with phones, tablets, smart TVs, and video editing software like Premiere or Final Cut.

WebM (VP9 video with Opus audio) provides exceptional quality at lower file sizes, making it ideal for web playback and modern desktop media players like VLC.

Saving your own YouTube uploads

If you are a content creator looking to download your own past videos, YouTube Studio provides a built-in direct download function under Content > Video Options > Download.

Always ensure you own the video or have permission from the copyright owner before saving copies to your device.
